Tech Careers 2006 April 2006
Akimeka, LLC opened its doors at the Maui Research & Technology Park to host high school students on Thursday, April 27, to support the Maui Economic Development Board’s Women in Technology Project’s “Tech Careers 2006: I am the Future” event. Students were able to hear personal success stories on high tech and science careers from employees during a Panel Session and tour to spark interest and introduce students to career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
2005 Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s (CNHA) 4th Annual Conference September 2005
Akimeka LLC participated as a corporate sponsor for the 4th Annual CNHA conference held August 30 – September 2, 2005 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. This conference brings together over 200 Native organizations and 600 plus individuals to one of the largest gatherings focused on community development held in Hawai’i. Major sponsors for this conference include Bank of Hawai’i, Bishop Museum, Department of Hawaiian Homelands, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, American Savings Bank, Pueo Group, and DBEDT, State of Hawai’i. The founder and chairperson for this conference is Ms. Robin Danner, President & CEO of CNHA.
2005 Moloka’i Youth-In-Motion Festival August 2005
Akimeka LLC participated as a sponsor in the 3rd Annual Youth-In-Motion Festival held August 13, 2005 on Moloka’i. The purpose of this festival is to expose our Moloka’i “keiki” to myriad sports and the opportunities they offer. Clinics are conducted by professionals, coaches, and athletes representing wind and kite surfing, basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer, softball, golf, and tennis. Mr. Herman Frazier, Athletic Director for the University of Hawaii brought coaches and athletes from UH to guide and mentor Moloka’i youth. All of the coaches and athletes bring outside knowledge and add another dimension in teaching skill sets to our youth. The founder and chairman of this event is Ms. Clare Seeger-Mawae, a Moloka’i resident and former world wind-surfing champion. The day’s events included food, music, children’s activities and culminated with the Ms. Moloka’i Beauty Pageant held in the evening at Moloka’i Harbor Park.
Tech Careers 2004 April 2004
For the second year in a row, participated in the Maui Economic Development Board's "Tech Careers 2004: I Am the Future", a two-day event designed to expose local high school students to Maui's growing technology industry. Akimeka held a seat on the panel discussion "How I Got Started", describing the exciting and unpredictable paths of pursuing careers in technology. The company also hosted select groups of students, introducing them to possible career paths and giving them the opportunity to interact with two of its local employees.
Introduce a Girl to Engineering March 2004
Akimeka LLC hosted an “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” Day on March 4, 2004, as part of National Engineers Week. Three Maui students in grades 9 through 11 from the local Kihei Charter High School job shadowed Akimeka women engineers and received a firsthand introduction to engineering and technology.
Joint Information Technology Center May 2003
Established the Joint Information Technology Center, a high-tech research and development hub supporting the Department of Defense. Government agencies, including the Joint Staff, Office of Naval Research, Maui High Performance Computing Center, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Defense Information Systems Agency, and the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel have partnered with Akimeka in this effort.
Tech Careers 2003 April 2003
Participated in the Maui Economic Development Board's "Tech Careers 2003: I Am the Future", a two-day event to expose local high school students to Maui's emerging technology industry. Akimeka hosted a select group of students, providing hands-on interaction with proprietary applications and the opportunity to talk with several of its engineers from Hawai'i.

Support Maui Community College (MCC) student intern program in collaboration with the MCC and the Women In Technology Program.
On-The-Job Technical Training Fall 1999
Sponsored Native Hawaiians in a collaborative program with the Pacific E-Health Innovation Center and the Alu Like organization to provide on-the-job technical training in telemedicine/telehealth programs.
International Pacific Medical Technology Conference August 1998
Sponsored a science booth for high school students of Kamehameha School at the international Pacific Medical Technology Conference held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
