Akimeka is committed to philanthropy that improves the quality of life and assists the underserved in the communities where we live and work. Our philanthropy program includes:

Holiday Donations, 2008
Akimeka management and employees decided that in lieu of their annual Employee Holiday party at their various locations, they donated the funds allocated to the holiday celebration to charitable organizations serving their communities:

  • MauiKiwanis Club of South Maui, Saint Theresa Church’s Hale Kau Kau Program,
    Women Helping Women, Family Life Center, Maui Economic Opportunity, and
    Maui Food Bank
  • HonoluluParents and Children Together (PACT), Catholic Charities Hawaii, and
    River of Life Mission.
  • San AntonioThe Arc of San Antonio, Wounded Warriors, St. Peter - St. Joseph Orphanage, Texas Institute for Educational Robotics, and Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, San Antonio

Moloka'i Challenge
For the third straight year, Akimeka donated to the Youth in Motion's Moloka'i Challenge Race for Charity, which benefits keiki programs on Moloka'i.

Chaminade Hogan Entrepreneurial Program Scholarship
Akimeka's President, Vaughn Vasconcellos, donated $2,000 to Chaminade University's Hogan Entrepreneurial Program.

Alaka‘ina Foundation
Akimeka contributes to the Alaka‘ina Foundation, a not-for-profit Native Hawaiian organization (NHO), which focuses on building leadership programs for Native Hawaiian youth in rural areas and Hawaiian Homestead communities. More

Maui Food Bank
For several years, Akimeka has sponsored a food drive within the Maui Research & Technology Park. In addition to the hundreds of pounds of food donated by Technology Park employees, Akimeka provides a financial donation toward the purchase of food.

Shop with a Cop
Boosted by the corporate sponsorship of Akimeka, the South Maui Kiwanis raised enough money to purchase $50 gift cards for children in need to spend at the Maui Kmart store during the holiday season.

Hurricane Katrina Relief
Akimeka is proud to report a successful outcome to our Hurricane Katrina donation program. Employees generously donated to the Red Cross to help the victims and aid in the efforts to rebuild their communities. Akimeka matched employee contributions dollar for dollar.

Tsunami Relief Effort
Saddened by the news of great devastation in the Pacific Rim, Akimeka launched a donation program to help with the relief effort. Employees generously donated to the Red Cross to help the victims and aid in the efforts to rebuild their communities. Akimeka matched employee contributions dollar-for-dollar.

Alliance for Infant Survival
Akimeka made a donation to help assist in the fight against sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Korean War Commemoration
Akimeka donated money to the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Korean War Commission. The money raised for this historic occasion came from the efforts of the Hawaii National Guard, Hawaii-based businesses, and individuals.

Hawaiian Homestead Technology
We donated server and desktop systems, software, network engineering support, and technical support to Hawaiian Homestead Technology (HHT), a start-up company that will be training and employing Native Hawaiians in Anahola, Kaua‘i. HHT, under a partnership with Anahola Hawaiian Homes Association and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, is a contractor in a Native American digitization project for the Department of Defense.

Tech Ready Program
We donated to Maui's “Tech Ready” program for the county’s public schools.

Boy Scouts of America
We made donations to Boy Scouts for their summer camp and Patriot Good Scout award.

Maui Memorial Hospital
Akimeka donated a desktop radiology digitizer to Maui Memorial Hospital, Hawaii Healthcare Systems Corporation (HHSC).

Malama Na Keiki Foundation
Financial donations were made to the Malama Na Keiki Foundation, a foundation that supports the prevention of child abuse.

Pacific American Leadership Conference
We sponsored Native Americans to attend the annual Pacific American Leadership Conference.

Papa Ola Lokahi
A financial donation was made to Papa Ola Lokahi in support of the Native Hawaiian Healthcare System.

Moloka'i Community Center
We donated computers to the Moloka'i Community Center to perpetuate Hawaiian cultural programs.
